Book details
Silence and Silences is a meditation on the infinite search for meanings in silence. This book sets out to touch silence for brief experiences of what's real. In images, dreams and actions, the challenge leads the writer to her heart.

"The author... examines a more interior way of living with this wide-spanning and thoughtful meditation on what it means to inhabit silence, whether by choice or otherwise, and how we can center ou
rselves in tumultuous times by stepping back and examining our worlds more carefully."
- Chicago Review of Books

"The thrill is the skillful slow mapping, naming, the coaxing of connections hidden then surfacing through an infinity of human silences...  this is a book not just about courage, but about the courage of clarity itself, that life-long ability to descend into silence and find the ways to unlock or use it, especially in times of grief."

- Alexandra Johnson, author of The Hidden Voice and winner of a special citation PEN Award for Nonfiction
