Susan Tiberghien finishes off our 2019 year with a seasonal non-fiction workshop:
"From Darkness to Light: the Alchemy of Writing"
Where is the story? Margaret Atwood writes, “The story is in the dark. Going into a narrative is a dark road.” We will look at the way of alchemy to find our stories: going into the dark (nigredo), uncovering narratives (albedo), crafting and polishing them (rubedo). We will look at fiction, nonfiction and poetry with excerpts from Etty Hillesum, C.G. Jung, Pablo Neruda, Toni Morrison, Margaret Atwood, Orhan Pamuk. With our stories we will shine some light into our troubled world.
Susan Tiberghien, American writer living in Geneva, is the author of four memoirs, two writing books: One Year to a Writing Lifeand Writing Toward Wholeness, and most recently the 20th Anniversary Edition of Circling to the Center, An Invitation to Silent Prayer. She teaches at C.G. Jung Societies, the International Women’s Writing Guild, and at writers’ centers and conferences in Europe and the U.S. She recently did two online master classes for the Jung Society in Washington. Susan founded and directed the Geneva Writers’ Group for 25 years. www.susantiberghien.com
