GWG Literary Prizes

The Geneva Writers Group has established the GWG Literary Prizes as a way of recognizing and celebrating our writers. These awards, created in 2013, encompass a winner and honorable mention in each of three main categories of writing.

Our judges change from year to year, but we look for those individuals whose writing has had an impact in the world of poetry, fiction and nonfiction.

To enter work for the Literary Prize, it is necessary to be an active GWG member. Members may submit their work in one or more of the different categories we offer each year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who are the judges for the Literary Prize ? Can anyone win ?

A: We hire different judges each year, all prominent in their given fields. Judges often have some past connection to the GWG (ie. having taught for us). First Prize Winners do not submit in the same category in which they’ve won for three years. There is no fee to enter – and there are cash prizes. So follow the guidelines and give it a go !

Q: If I’ve had work published successfully elsewhere, or have submitted elsewhere for publication, can I still enter?

A: We do not encourage writers to submit published work – nor work that is under consideration for publication elsewhere. Yet we do allow for some overlap concerning the literary prize, particularly where we receive a unique version of the story or poem in question.
