When the Open Page Becomes the Theatre:

In Person Embodied Workshop with Dr. Cristina A Bejan

Author, playwright, and spoken word poet Dr. Cristina A. Bejan brings her wide-ranging experience as a professional theatre artist into the Geneva Writers Group!

This in-person workshop invites writers to expand how they generate material by stepping beyond the purely introspective page and into embodied, imaginative practice. Drawing on accessible theatre techniques—such as Rodin Statue Work and Theatre of the Oppressed–inspired exercises—participants will engage in short, guided writing prompts alongside light movement, role-based exploration, and collective imagination. These practices encourage writers to look beyond the familiar interior terrain of contemporary creative writing and toward other lives, perspectives, and realities.

Together, we’ll push our imaginations outward, deepening character and story through physical, emotional, and intuitive engagement. The focus is on expanding perspective, enriching narrative possibility, and discovering new entry points into language and voice.

Open to writers of all backgrounds and genres, this workshop offers a dynamic, playful, and supportive space to stretch your craft, ask urgent questions of past and present, and imagine more just and luminous futures.

No theatre experience is required—only curiosity, a favorite pen, and an open heart.

Morning: The writer and creation as work of art. Rodin statue work and Vicente Huidobro’s creacionismo. Exercises, sharing and feedback discussion.

Afternoon: The writer as the other. Theatre of the Oppressed and giving imagination permission to play. Exercises, sharing and feedback discussion.

Saturday, February 21, 10:30 – 16:30
